MiX Telematics Australasia completes telematics rollout for large client in the Utilities sector

The rollout consisted of the MiX Telematics premium system to enable reliable, satellite communication with drivers as well as a full suite of vehicle telemetry to maximise safety and operational efficiency.

MiX Telematics Australasia has recently completed a telematics rollout in Australia for a fleet of more than 1200 vehicles for a large client in the Utilities sector.

Given the extensive distances travelled by their drivers and the consequent increased risk, safety was the primary driver behind this customer selecting MiX as their telematics partner. In addition, the customer’s workers often operate in remote areas, making it essential to locate the vehicle’s exact position at all times. The option to monitor driver safety via satellite comms as well as receiving safety-related alerts in the event of an emergency mitigates this organisation’s safety risk significantly. In fact, safety is such a priority for this client that they are the first in Australia to have our satellite option installed throughout the entire fleet.

They are now looking to take fleet safety a step further by trialling a new solution from MiX Telematics that will add another layer of protection for their workers. Known as a “person down pendant” this will ensure that their lone workers are protected when they are working away from their vehicle which is when they are most vulnerable. In such situations, the remote-control pendant can be activated in the event of an employee suffering a fall, being involved in an accident, or finding themselves in a perilous situation.
